The vast potential of every person is going untapped. We may win gold medals, do something heroic, be smartest or funniest, be the most popular or most beautiful or have the most toys. Yet the stupendous potential of our minds and hearts remains out of reach.

It’s evident we can’t solve the human dilemma by trying harder. We need help. Our minds and hearts, our relationships and our planet – all are being ruined by lack of that ultimate solution. The world is a mess. It all seems so complicated, yet there are two basic underlying problems driving the whole thing. Both problems must be solved. And we must let Christ solve these two essential problems – or we will live defeated.

First Problem

Wrongs happen. Call it sin, criminal negligence, stupidity, or abused becomes abuser. Stuff happens and it warps lives. The victim becomes mired in shame, condemnation, depression, anger, and loss. We ourselves are victims. And the perpetrator gets caught in self-loathing, hopelessness, or mental and emotional disconnection. We ourselves are perpetrators. We try to get free: we minimize, repress, deflect, rationalize, or pay the perpetual penance of regret, or we may try to pay for our wrongs on the installment plan for the rest of our lives. But our efforts are never enough, and every attempt just sabotages us.

Second Problem

We are born as the child of our circumstances, shaped and defined by the world around us. Whether maltreated and scorned, or adored and indulged, we get warped and twisted. We believed false information, distortion, or outright lies to build our identity and sense of reality. Our hopes and dreams get trampled or compromised. We go crazy with pain. We tried to solve the Battle of the Sexes by seeking a balance of power, give and take, and yet more cooperation. We tried self-control, counseling, accountability partners – sometimes escalating to arbitration, restraining orders, and settlements.

First Solution

The massive debt of sins-wrongs-stupidity must be paid in full to release us. Something must repay the unthinkably vast damage, repay all of it. But, how? The only way: Love Incarnate paid the debt. Above and beyond us, perfect Love shouldered our wrongs and lifted this crushing weight of guilt and blame off us.

Second Solution

The glorious potential of our minds and hearts must be unlocked. Above and beyond us, infinite beauty of thought exists, calling us to awaken. How can this help us? Love literally re-creates our minds and hearts as we become wholeheartedly convinced of the wisdom and ultimate truth of God’s promises. Only this can unlock our potential.

Think about it: Christ walking around on planet earth, flashing the inheritance of ultimate power-authority-healing. Then He stated the game-plan, paid the stupendous debt, and invited us to follow His pathway. The world saw Jesus walk on water and walk through locked doors – then Jesus said we will be able to do even more astonishing things. There is glorious Hope!

When we truly abide in Christ, trusting God’s ultimate truth-wisdom-beauty, we are changed intrinsically. It is the next level of creation; a new type of being. This authentic metamorphosis transforms our identity.

You want the goodies and God wants to give them to you. Your full potential in Christ exists awaiting that connection.
